St. Urho's Day 2007

More photosThere were plenty of other things to photograph while in Finlayson. And plenty of good things to eat! One thing the celebration is known for is the Grilled Pork Chop stand manned by the Finlayson-Giese Lions Club, who also organize the annual St. Urho's Day festivities. A stop at the Fire Hall for Fry Bread (deep-fried bread dough, served with powdered sugar and jelly) is also a must. At one point the parade announcer warned, "Anyone who doesn't go home obese may be punished." Photos © 2007 by Tim Winker or Randy Jokela |
